Art Poster
project description
For this project, I was required to create an art poster incorporating the Principles of Gestalt. I decided to use a theme of life and death and the “circle of life” inspired by a dead rat I found. To incorporate the “life” aspect, I used a photo of a mushroom as the background, as mushrooms and other fungi decompose organic matter to produce and absorb nutrients from that organic matter. Although death is dismal, it gives me peace of mind that death feeds fungi, as fungi are an integral part of our earth and ecosystem. For this reason, I chose to rearrange the wording as “death and life” since death also brings life.
The art poster uses repetition and rhythm through shape by incorporating duplicate rats and the mushroom background, all of which consist of curvilinear lines. Your eyes go to the rats first due to the color adjustments and their placement, but the mushroom still stands out with the repetitious lines and values.
